67 Camaro possible pace car
« on: June 22, 2016, 12:55:49 PM »
Just pulled a 67 Camaro for a customer after it languished in another shop for over 10 years, when decoding the car I think it has the possibility to be a pace car. attached is the trim tag, looking for good opinions, let me know what you think. Thanks!

It does indeed look like a PC tag, all inof looks correct, but I think the tag has been off the car, or at least the filler has been pulled from the rivits.  What's the VIN?

Was the firewall and tag  paint chemically stripped? Maybe that stripped the rivet caulk as well.

tag is bare aluminum, current owner has had it since 1971, car sat in a shop for "restoration" and all I see are many missing parts and poor quality work that all needs to be redone. the car does show evidence of a chemical stripper being used on it (rockers are still rough w/brush marks) vin is 124677N204108

That VIN is in the right range, so the tag probably matches the car, will have to check my image files and list of other known VINs to see where it falls with the others.  Whatever you don't mess with the tag (like removing and reinstalling it), and protect it from getting damaged if the firewall needs more stripping, or blasting.

Mark,

luckily I am well aware of the trim tag issues, as I own/work on lots midyear corvettes, and know that a repop trim tag is the kiss of death to them. as for this car, I should nor have to remove it or disturb it, so it should be fine. currently it does not look tampered with at all.

My 04A IPC is 103240 N203380, looks to be good to me....unofficially that is.

Dennis ,

You should post the IPC's VIN and trim tag over at www.camaropacecars.com.

Lots of 67 IPC knowledge there.
