69 'Pace Car' wheels... YJ?

A friend called me last night, asked me what 'original '69 Pace Car' rallye wheels, with trim rings, centers, and 'Firestone Wide Oval' tires would be worth...  He didn't know the code (he's not an originality guy)..  I told him the value would be dependent on (Originality, and condition)... my standard answer.. :)    From my checking on CRG, these wheels would have to be 'YJ' code to be original for a Pace Car (SS) ..  is this correct? or are there conditions or other answers to this question?  I told him I'd check them out for him, but haven't yet seen them.   Can anyone here provide a 'value range' for such wheels, assuming they ARE correct YJ wheels?

I believe that's correct. They should be 14 x 7. They would only have come originally on either a 69 Camaro SS, or a 69 Nova SS, if I'm correct.

The tires could have decent value if they are original '69 small white letter Firestones and have most of the tread intact. They are no longer roadworthy of course but could be used for shows. They are not reproduced. The large white letter Firestones are still available and were introduced for the '70 model year. If that's what they are and are used they have little value.

The correct wheels are 14 x 7 as described but would have to be dated January-April '69; pace cars were produced early February through early May '69. Marketing them as such limits the audience; someone with a February car won't want March wheels. Dated original components are in demand for Z/28 and COPO restorations. IMHO most pace car guys don't care.

If he has 4 wheels dated '69 and everything is in good condition $1000 wouldn't be out of line. A matching spare wheel would add proportionately. If the tires are OE '69 Firestones I might remove them and sell separately.

Thanks William!~     Now that I'm back from Charlotte AutoFair, I'll pass that along...

WHAT a crowd at AutoFair.. and many Camaros for sale..  as well as Camaro parts...  fortunately I resisted buying anything that I didn't neet.. :)
