Very cool if you are a pontiac guy, that will not settle for anything less. I still shake my head that they couldn't keep the Pontiac brand. The G8 with the LS was a sweet sweet ride.
A 5th gen Firebird and/or GTO would have been a no brainer.

They had some of those on display at BJ.  Pretty neat looking.

It goes back to the arguments of a couple of years ago - GM would have blown everything out if the design staff had ever listened to the enthusiasts. Look at the Challenger, or the Mustang(s) - retro sells. And consider drivetrains - latest generations are unreal. Why didn't they wake up ? I like the new Camaros, but given the choice of restored or new at the same price, I would buy first gens any day of the week. Better investments, too -

Just my opinion -

Well I think there is a grey area as far as restored goes, vs. new.

I dropped 21k on a 2010 2SS 6 speed, a couple of months ago. For the type of 1st Gen I would have gotten for the same money I am happy with my purchase, that LS3 hauls ass. Now brand new at around 37k plus tax, I would agree at that price point you can get a lot more 1st gen for your money, and probably find a nice SS manual shift car, maybe even a BB driver, or little rougher Z car with an original block.

I love my Z and would get another. I like my 2010 SS, it fills my new car/ new technology void. Plus my wife can drive it on further trips, and I don't have to worry I am going to get a call that it is running hot in traffic or something.
Different goats for different folks I suppose
