I wonder if the Camaro in the B&W photo could be an early 350 to 427 conversion ?

if it has SS 350 on the gas cap would mean an early car?

Yenko Motion Dana Nickey did some early 350 to 427 conversions
some left the 350 emblems on them

Not sure but I think you are right. Probably an early car.

No way to prove the 427 transplant though without docs.

Do those look like GOODYEAR cheater slicks on the rear of the white car? :)

Love that background.  Those palms are about a half-mile from my house and I pass by them every day.

I know of two other cars that are L78 cars, built at the same time as your car, and were also dark green. One is a possible dealer modified car.
But your car has a different Special Order (F&SO) number (L229D) than the other two.
As a SS350 car, I would question that your car was dealer converted to a 427 car, especially that late in the year. They would start with a big block, normally an L78 so they could reuse the most components. And have the right engine mounts, heater core, radiator, etc.

Why the L78 cars have a different F&SO than your car is an interesting question - seeing that they are apparently the same color, just different drivetrains.

The white Camaro in the photo with the TYK 000 license has been owned by me since 1970. The car is a true SS 350 Camaro with White Paint code CC. The car was a suspension development car for Guldstrand Egineering that was owned by Gary Wheeler at the time. The car was supposedly one of the first SS 350 sold by Clippinger Chevrolet in Covina. Jon Mello is aware of the car and its history.

Wow, your license plate is the closest to my 01C car I've seen yet! Cool

Very cool, Bob.  I'm glad the car is still around!  Did you buy the car from Gary Wheeler?

That image hosting service attaches some borderline images as far as being appropriate goes. We have noticed that before. Not sure what the solution is to that. You only notice the extra images when you click on the ones visible in the thread.

Kurt do you have a solution?

The easy solution is posting via the forum software. Then the pics don't fade away over time.
You have to click on Reply to see the Attachment option - it doesn't show under Quick Reply.

There is a letter that was written by Bob Wingate that the owner (who has apparently left the forum) has posted publicly. It says car was special paint and was a L78 to 427 conversion.
I question that Bob is referring to this car LOS34507 since this is a small block 4P car and it clearly says the car started as a L78. Every 4P LOS car is a small block. I think it's about one of the special paint L78 cars (both are 4K) that I mentioned previously.
