What Kind Of Axles Are These?
« on: March 05, 2016, 04:28:54 AM »
I ended up with a lot of 69 Camaro parts and I know that the man that had these parts was in the process of getting parts together to make a JL8 4 wheel disc brake set up for one of his 69 Camaros.   There are 2 new aftermarket type axles that I'm guessing was part of the set up.  I would like to sell them sometime but first I would like to find out what brand they are and if they are indeed what would work for the JL8 option rear end or a 69 Camaro.  They are in a box that looks like the box they came in but for some reason the brand, part numbers or any information has been cut out.  I have no idea why.

So here are some clues and pictures.

He had put a piece of tape on both axles and one has 59.588 on it and the other has 29.585 on the tape and in marker 29.011.  For some reason it seems like a friend of his mentioned to me that they were Strange axles.  They are 30 and 3/8ths inches long.

I appreciate the help.

Hard to tell from the pics but they do look like aftermarket non taper c-clip axles with press in wheel studs.  Both Moser and Strange have been making these for dozens of years.  Oddly I have axles from both companies in cars here and they both have logos on the flanges, easy to tell apart.   Yours are blank.   I've had a pair from Moser that date back just over 20 years and they even had logos back then.  So hard to say what you have but there are a lot of companies making these now like Yukon for instance.  The most recent pair of Strange axles I bought they had resorted to putting stick on decals on the flange with their "S" insignia.  It could be the decals were removed or fell off?
Sorry couldn't provide a definite answer.
