I'll admit I haven't been keeping up with prices but I'm just amazed of the asking price for these firewalls.
And to think, I paid $4100 for my unrestored LOS BB back in 1980 and that was for a whole car!

Some sellers (or would be sellers) have no shame, and apparently zero respect for people's common sense with their asking prices...  but that doesn't mean they will find the sucker they are looking for..  :)

The freaking JJ block is what would attract the fabricators on this one... if you were going to build an L89 holy crap a large part of the work is done, judging by the firewall it is an RS/SS with cowl hood and muncie in Dusk Blue. Would be a helluva combo and would have been worth fixing even if it was rusted off behind the rear seats, the cowl doesn't look as bad as the others, if the remainder of the body were around it would be a project for someone to fully document and undertake. LEGIT RS/SS L89 even if brought back from a cut apart mess is going to bring 6 figures.

And the funny thing is half the "restos" we see ended up having all the metal except for the cowl replaced anyway. A lot of times its the cowl too... Not trying to justify this sale, but seriously, after replacing the floor pan, firewall back including the tail panel, quarters, roof, inner/outer rockers, inner/outer fender wells, frame rails... What are you left with? A-pillars and the roof structure maybe if they're lucky on some Phoenix cars.

Considering that this guy lied about the "convertible" firewall (original ad showed coupe rockers and later he removed the picture), do you really think that this one is what he says it is???

I totally agree, I wouldn't want it either even if it was free.  I've seen cars built like this going back dozens of years so it's not a new concept, but to me it's not worth the time and effort.  You'll never recoup even 50% of the money it would take to revive that pile of scrap metal.  I'd feel bad selling something like that for even $100, let alone charging someone his $18,000 asking price, LOL    I can buy a running driving car for that price.  People are nuts.
