What Do You Want For Christmas?
« on: December 18, 2015, 06:07:06 PM »
Okay, the big day is only a week away.  I'm sure you have been making a list.  So what do you want for Christmas?

I've already got the car (actually cars) and it is running fine.  So I'm just hoping that Santa (and the weatherman) will fulfill the current forecast here for Christmas day: sunny and warm!  After overeating, I plan to take a drive in the Camaro. And, maybe, a boat ride...

Hope you get what's own your list!

Dear Santa -

An original tinted windshield for my 11C early 69 camaro
A set of XT wheels painted red
NOS outer fuzzies
NOS SS emblems
And 4 rubber bumpers for a console mounted 8track in a pear tree.

And a paint job.

All I want for christmas ....

When I was a kid I could fit all my (nice) Hot Wheels into the wood display case my "bisnonno" made for me, (italian great grandfather). I could line them all up, change the order change the direction and just admire all the candy colors and detail of the bodies.

All I want for Christmas is ONE building to put all my current vehicles in... line them up and pull up a chair and just take it all in. I have had vehicles in 3 different states, in 4 different towns for as long as I can remember. Which is probably no better than a bunch of you who have everything in front of them, but have a bunch of stuff packed around each one, like a nest made of junk. We all have some kind of plan to get them on the road right? ???

So since it is still going to be a handful of Christmases before I can see that happening, how about a more realistic wish from Santa

And since I know you guys are already looking for original parts for me....haha ;) ::)

I would like to see pics of my CRG friends cars getting posted in the spring and summer being finished up and getting assembled to be taken out.

Ohiobill, Bentley, Gary, Jano, Abiddle, (sorry if I missed anyone)

So make my christmas wishes come true guys and get a plan together to finish those cars up and get them on the road....

A even better (future) wish would be,  a "CRG round up" , which would be a huge get together of all of us with our cars , and inviting anyone else with 1st gen!

( I can dream can't I) ;D

thanks :)

Like somebody just posted....time is what I'd like. Shy of a few items, It's really ready to be hammered away at for reassembly. No BS, older we get, the quicker time cruises by. Joke to my buddies is " boats 11 years old, and put 50 hours on it, around 100 passes on the drag car we built 9 years ago, Z...lol, Lawn mower , 7 years old, 600 hours!"

I was a Hot Wheels/Match Box car fanatic also. I too had my "daily play with" and my " look at only"  Things really haven't changed!

Funny how everyone wishes for time.  One year, 3 months and I retire for good.  I hate to wish my life away, but I'm looking forward to March 2017.  coincidentally the birth date of my Z11!

I know this is not Camaro related. This my wife and I project/present for this year. Ours is not going to be quite that rusty.  It's '65 Turq. metallic (just Base Coat) with patina. Cab is done, I'll try to get a pic. posted.  My wish is to get the tailgate finished in time.

Here's a pic. of the cab.  I did not destroy a good rebuildable cab.  The floor and firewall was all rusted out, and damage to the front of the roof. I found a guy close to me on EBay that has all kinds of truck parts.  I recycled all the parts.  My wife is a "farm girl", she learned how to drive in a truck like this "three in the tree".  I took a pic. of the cab before I started, cleaned it all up, sanded and painted it the base coat.  And then added patina to look like it started.

I could have probably used your reject parts. Were they 60 to 66?  The guy I got parts from is only like an hour away.  I sent him a pic. of the bed, and told him I didn't want to cut up good usable parts.  I didn't get rid of any of the dents, and didn't use filler on the pitted spots.  If you enlarge the pic. and look real close you will see pits where the brown primer is.  I did have to weld up some holes, especially in the tail-gate, but didn't finish them off with filler.  Just ground them down.  In reality, I suppose some of thes parts could have been used on a "Rat Rod".  I did watch a couple of shows on Velocity on Rat Rods to get ideas for the patina I wanted.

Yes many parts are the same for 60-66. Cab is different 60-63 vs 64-66, but fenders and bed are the same. I was just giving you a hard time. I have seen guys make nation wagons out of Camaros and mustangs. They made a ton of all this stuff... That will be one heavy bed though!

Actually it's not as heavy as one would think.  The cab part isn't as heavy as the tail-gate.  The cab is just a 6 in. "slice" of the back of the cab.  I'm going to make a "faux" step bumper out of wood.  Had to get a new mattress and frame, needs to be King Size to fit the width of the truck.

Oh well,
alia cogitatione terminatur

Translated: other's thought terminated. Meaning the original topic has been lost, meaning Phillip wants us to get back to the OP?
(gotta say though, that bed idea is right up my alley and my type decor, I really like it) Now, back to the topic @ hand

Oh sure, I wish Santa would help me get my car(s) done, that would be so nice! My father-in-law, a Kentuckian, says,"You can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first!" meaning wishing does not get it done. But a more important and needed gift is that I have an opportunity to help others and make a difference in their life. I also would like health and prosperity for my buddies here, and family and friends. Especially for my Mom, just diagnosed with breast cancer and my brother and I have a genetic neurological disorder causing tremendous pain that has really slowed both of us down in our daily life. Despite that, just knowing the guys I have made friends with on CRG, well, I am a blessed man! Merry Christmas!

Thank you! Ride is on the rough side but not what it was designed for. This thing is incredible around corners and from having a C6 Z06 I loved the LS7 as it pulls hard from start to finish.
What surprises me is the people that are interested in it as there a many Camaro's on the road.

I think I saw one at a show and one at mecum Kissimmee a year ago. I read they handle great and wondered if it compromises the ride. There was one at mcacn too and they had it marked down alot . deal for someone. are they all manuals?

No autos in the Zs.  Great car congrats.  To date the best Camaro performance wise from GM.  Now the 6th gen will be a different animal.  Cant wait to see if they offer a Z with that architecture.  If so it will dominate the competition.
