Z28 "double hump" heads
« on: November 16, 2005, 01:22:15 AM »
I have '68 Z28 with original MO engine, minus the double hump heads.  Any suggestions as to where I may find a set.  Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

As a starting point point I would try http://www.engineslimited.com/ or http://www.cranescorvette.com/

Good Luck!!!

I have found several of the 291 heads on Ebay.  They may have the 194's, but this will allow you to have the 2.02's put in and know that they are "fresh".  Make sure there is some "guarantee" that they have magged the heads to check for cracks.  Also, if they are for a '68, make sure that there is a hole tapped for the temp sending unit.  Some of the earlier 291's don't have that hole tapped.

Hope this helps,
Mike T.

The 291's with the boss, but not drilled/tapped, were used on '67 Corvettes from about mid-March '67 to the end of the model year (instead of 462's); the same head was used on '68 Corvettes, with the hole drilled/tapped for the temp sender. You might also try Tracy Performance - they have lots of castings.

I am in process of contacting all the options that were suggested.  Just a note regarding my Z.  It seems from the history I've managed to get, that like most all Z's, mine too was raced quite often.  That is why I feel very fortunate to have the original MO 302, even though someone swapped heads.  I appreciate all the responses.
Thanks,

Go over to the Team Camaro website and register. Then take advantage of the regular classified and forum classified sections. ;)
