Letter's on Cowl
« on: August 14, 2015, 12:37:10 AM »
Are these markings correct for a 1967 SS? I have seen these before, however I think only on Z28. This car was a total restoration, not original motor, however I just need to know if these are correct, or did somebody put these on the wrong type of Camaro? Picture not attaching, the marking are as follows:
passenger side cowl P(green), B(orange) and T(green) below those letters L35. On the drivers cowl is d(green) B(orange) and T(green). Looking forward to hearing about these markings.
Thanks

They were put on during your restoration. The paint is too thick and the crayon too perfect to have been originals. These stamps are beleived to have been on every Norwood vehicle but never on GMAD built vehicles from Van Nuys/LA.

The PTB stamps are from inspection for Paint, Body and Trim on those lines. The D is an upside P. The color is believed to indicates shift, but rarely would you see a vehicle that was mixed in colors, but if it was the sequence would be logical for the line inspection stations, and most mixed colors flunk that test.

Nice color car and what looks like a clean restoration.

My 67 had the orig PTB stamps on the firewall behind the fenders, so before the nose was installed.

The "L-35" marking wasn't used in production - it's "restoration graffiti".

I've seen many 67's like that - hidden behind the fenders.

I am SO glad I read this thread. Because at this moment, my '67 is on the rotisserie with the firewall painted semi gloss black and the PTB stamps are in the sealed package waiting to be used.
