Decode protector plate
« on: June 30, 2015, 05:52:57 PM »
my 67 ragtop came with the protecto plate. It is still attached to the original owners manual. It looks to be white plastic. Running up the left side of the card it says  protecto plate. Running up the right side it says General Motors of Canada limited. Top left it gives the original owners name and just under that the city and province slightly down and to the right of the card are the following #,s and letters. FC 0019627. Just below this is a G and an M just below it. Then the date 07.  08.  67. To the right of that are the numbers 84070 . And below that is the vin. I am having some difficulty decoding it. this protecto plate does not look at all like the one shown on the CRG website. It is in great shape and looks just like a white charge card.   Can someone decode this for me please

No, not like the protecto plates used by GM in the USA..  but maybe it's peculiar to Canadian sold vehicles (OR perhaps a dealership-unique ID card?)..  Is there a dealer identified anywhere on that card?

Thanks for the response. No there is no dealer identification on the card at all.

Hi Jimbo -

I have a Canadian POP for my 66 Vette - had never seen one prior.

They do not contain any component codes or options - just the purchaser name, delivery date, some GM codes & I think the VIN.

I can post a photo later if you'd like.

That would be great Fort. I am interested to see if it is the same as mine.

http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#POPCodes
"Canadian-sold vehicles were provided with unique Canadian warranty booklets. 1967 Canadian vehicles have a plastic protect-o-plate that is only stamped with minimal information like the VIN, the buyer's name, and the zone and dealer's number. "
84 070 is the dealer zone and code.

Does your car still have a 779 turquoise interior?
