Yes adjustable mast was for AM radio sets as you had the tune the mast up or down in relation to the strength of the stations in your area relative to the static and buzz from the atmosphere on the AM band in radio sets of that period.  FM and FM Stereo radio sets of that period used fixed mast for the modulation of FM was not as subject to atmospheric interference.

Great, thank you for your answers. I've found an original retractable oval antenna, buy Will keep my fix repro antenna, as my car is equipped with AM/FM radio headunit.

Modern radios AM/FM Stereo have automatic trim and static control on the AM band so really any type of antenna will perform well without constant adjustment. Not that many people adjusted their antennas in the first place. :)

Another thing that I've learned here because of you guys: how to adjust the AM antenna.....I love those cars !

But my main worries we're more about being as much original, as possible. Since I do have the AM and FM radio installed, I won't be installing the original AM only mast. Just too bad it looks great !

Eric - my antenna is cracked at the base, how nice is that AM antenna? Does it look like the attached pics? Maybe we should have swapped parts?  :D

Steve - I've always wondered about the mounting and bezel on my antenna. Does this mount look correct?

Thanks - Andy

Looks correct and proper to me - matches what I have. Only thing I can't see is the ground plate underneath, of course. Gasket looks correct, too -

Masts turn up periodically on eBay - keep cruising.

Regards,
Steve

Hi Eric - your mast tip is different without a line on it. I don't know the relevance, and in the AIM I only see a reference to a single part number (which I don't know is for the AM or FM antenna). But anyway, no thank you I think I will try to polish and repair my original.

I hope you received the parts I sent? Last I saw, they were sitting in customs.

Thanks!
