RPO Z87
« on: June 09, 2015, 12:57:18 AM »
My 69 RS was restored in 2007, by the previous owner.

When I looked at the Cowl Tag, the interior is coded 712, (black custom bucket). According to the picture, do you guys think it's really a 712 ? It should not be 713, Black Houndstooth ? I believe I have the RPO Z87, as I have the hood insulation, wood dash, the door molded, etc. So I have 2 questions:

1-does I have the right interior and seat clothing ?

2-is there any place on the POP or the Cowl Tag where I could see if yes or no the RPO Z87 was installed from the factory ?

Picture of my current seats/interior:

We don't see very much the seat, but it's a vinyl with clothe material in the center.

And here's the door, and they look to be the original ones:

Well in that picture you do not have black and white houndstooth, with black vinyl, but maybe you do have comfort-weave? Hard to tell from that photo.
Maybe post a picture of just the seat.
If you have a factory invoice you would see the RPO's she was born with but they are not on the cowl tag for 69's.
Some RPO's are on the POP such as Power Steering and Brake options, A/C, Power Windows, and Radio options but not interior groups or aux lighting.

Read through http://www.camaros.org/options.shtml
and

and

Nice car never the less.

712 and 713 interior codes are both custom interior, so if your trim tag shows 712, everything in your pictures would be in line with that - full dash woodgrain, bright pedal trim, hood insulation, deluxe bucket seat (looks like comfortweave to me), dash assist handle, deluxe door trims etc.
Does the car have woodgrain on the horn shroud, a glovebox light and a trunk mat too?
Houndstooth was available as an option with Z87, but the car would have had 713 on the trim tag if ordered with houndstooth, and it looks correctly done for a 712 code; any chance you could post a picture of the tag?

Thanks for the answer guys. I'm trying to see (understand) what was originally in the car, and what wasn't. According to the POP, I should only have the radio and the power steering. I do have power brakes (drum) and the A/C. I suppose these we're add later on by the dealer, as the A/C is very well adapted to the original dash control and it works great !

I do have the trunk floor mat, glovebox light, full dash grain, bright pedal, hood insulation (it look original). Where's the dash assist handle ? Is it the one above the glove box ?

I was mostly wondering about the seats covering, I taught that 712 would be full vinyl covered, not with material in the center. I taught that the Houndstooth option, was for the material in the center, sorry for my misunderstanding of this meaning !

Anyway here are some pictures of the seat and the interior:

712 is black custom interior with solid color comfort weave cloth seat inserts.
713 is black custom interior with a houndstooth plaid seat inserts.
711 is standard black interior with all vinyl seat covers.

The interior matches the tag.

Ok, thanks to share. It's great that mine was restored properly. It's a real LM1 matching numbers. I'll have to change many mechanical parts under the hood to bring her back to her original state, but at least the interior is already done properly

Not trying to throw you a negative, but I doubt the hood insulation is original - at least the fasteners aren't correct. They are solid reproductions - originals had holes spaced evenly around the center. Insulation itself looks a little new, similar to the reproduction blanket I installed years ago from the pre-Eckler Rick's First Gen.

Still, it looks pretty good. I wouldn't kick it out of the garage for barking at Mushtangs. Nice car -

I would leave the cowl hood on, but make it functional, they are a lot of fun!

I'm already thinking about putting back an OEM air filter+ OEM assy, whenever I do it, I'll make sure to have the cowl induction working properly.

I agree with you that if it's there on the car, it should work properly ;)

I'm wondering if the correct air filter+assy would fit well, at the correct height with my Edelbrok 1406 carburator?
