67 Van Nuys standard seat belts
« on: April 30, 2015, 06:02:44 PM »
Can anyone tell me roughly what month the 67 "standard" Irving belts changed from the Fisher Coach buckle Emblem to the GM Mark of Excellence buckle Emblem if ever? I have a 4Th week of April, Van Nuys built car and have located some GM refurbished belts though I'm not sure they are correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe there was never a change date from the way I read this statement here on the CRG seat belt page:  "67 standard buckles can have the Fisher Body carriage emblem or the GM emblem on the release button. Both buttons were used throughout the model year."  http://www.camaros.org/seatbelt.shtml

This is the buckle tag and date code on my 67 04B w/standard interior.
I also checked my 05B NOR and it has the same buckle tag. Interesting enough are the date codes for both 04B and 05B were Jan 1967 separated by only a few days.
GM must have made these belts in huge number batches to have early dates for midyear cars.
I haven't found the broadcast sheet on the 04B LOS but I haven't removed the gas tank yet to look for it.
I did find the UOIT and an electrical inspection tags under the carpet.

TRLAND - Thank you for that input, I did read that some time ago and have been searching at car shows for some consistency.
Mike S - Thank you for the pictures, your LOS build date example is what I was searching for. I will be using restored GM Mark of Excellence Emblem belts in my LOS 04D 760-Z car.

I'm always willing to revisit this. I don't have enough data to make a clear call on this.
I have one late 67 with the Fisher emblem, but I don't have the dates for the belts - maybe they aren't originals. Anyone have late belts with a Fisher emblem?

This is an interesting topic for me as well.  My 67 LOS 03C (765-Z) car has two different kinds of belts.  One set probably not being original.  It has the deluxe interior but in front it has the deluxe metal buckles (7036 carriage symbol model 127) dating 2E67 (Hamill) and the rear buckles are the standard type (black with GM mark of Excellence) Irving IC4500 dated 4 A 67.  I do think the black buckles look much better on the black interior.  Hopefully these dates can help some.

Leon,
Does the trim tag have 5Y on it or not?

Yes Kurt, it does.  The rear belts should probably be deluxe as well.  Although I thought I read somewhere that if it had a deluxe interior, then it could be ordered with either standard or deluxe belts?  I do like the looks of the standard belts better tho.

Yes, dlx belts were independent of dlx or std interior.
