What are the correct light bulbs used in the 1968 center console?

They're shown in the bulb chart in your owner's manual.

If you are talking about the bulbs used for the U17 console gauges they're bulb #1816 (GM part #454626). Also shown in the AIM.

Thank you. Looked at the owners manual and it said 1445. That was what was confusing me. Still unclear as both fit. Also looking for the bulb # for the low fuel indicator light. Cannot seem to locate it anywhere.

Should add that this is a 1968. Have read that the 1969 does not have  a bulb but this has all the original sockets and need to know if it was hooked up and what bulb was used. A 194 seems to be to long and will not mount correctly. All help is appreciated on this.

What console bulbs are you talking about? Like I said above, the 1816 bulbs are used to illuminate the U17 console gauges. The 1445 bulbs you mention are used to illuminate the D55 automatic transmission gear selector panels. There is also the courtesy lamp bulb at the back of the console, a different bulb than the other two.

As for the low fuel warning lamp, if you have U17 it is a 194 bulb (GM part #9421330). See the '68 AIM, UPC U17, Sheet A1.

Thank you . The 194 just seems too long and touches the gauge when it comes through the whole when plugged in and does not want to align properly. That is the problem I'm running into.

I too, have noticed that 194's are not made the same as they used to be (what is the same as it used to be?). My Snap-On test light takes this bulb. When it went out, I bought a package of 194's. I mean, what could be different, right? When I put the test light back together, the bulb broke...too long! Ughh! That old adage, nothing is as good as it used to be now applies to 194 bulbs, it seems.

Is there an equivalent bulb that will interchange?
