1967 RS hood release handle black-out

Hello Group!
I'm in the midst of my '67 RS/SS 396 restoration. my question is the finish of the hood release and handle. I know the hood release was finished from the factory with grey phosphate. I've now learned that the hood release handle was blacked out with semi-gloss black.
My question is this: Where does the semi-gloss black paint end? I want to get this correct.

I'll have to look at mine, I think its all black but may have been done incorrectly by the guy I got the car from.

Isn't the presence of black paint on the handle end an open question still?? Or have you found confirmation that this was done in the factory?

Here is a 67 Rs SS with 13K miles. Norwood car, no paint.
Charley:
68 SS RS Norwood car, coated with something that had runs.
