Which Throttle Rod is Correct for 67 RS/SS 350?

(1/2) > >>

1967RS/SS:
Which type of throttle rod would be correct for a 67 RS/SS L48 with 4MV quadrajet?  The AIM shows what looks like the first one but Classic Muscle also says theirs (the second pic) is correct.

Also, which hole would the rod connect to, he largest diameter hole (which would need a bushing) or the smaller hole?  I am guessing the tiniest hole gets the carb return spring right?  The very bottom stud will be getting the 700R4 TV connection...

Thanks

Top picture rod with a single bend is the correct one.  Yes, end goes in that hole you indicated.  In your third picture, if you look at the very bottom by the ball stud, where the piece has a tab that is bent inward toward the carb, you'll see a small hole where the spring attaches.  In the AIM there might be additional linkage illustrations under UPC M35 pages.

Ok, I must be doing something wrong then.  I have that single bend rod, and when I try to connect the carb end into the bushing, it's too short.

Thanks for the help.

Try flipping the rubber portion to the other side of the throttle lever and keep the plastic to the inside and see if that helps.  Just a thought.

I always use the hole just below.  May not be correct but it works.

I thought the bushing and insert were just used on the other/back end of the rod, and that swivel piece goes in the smaller hole right below and just uses a clip.  See UPC 6, Sheet D2, View A in the AIM.  I didn't see anything under UPCs L30, L48, or M35 that changed this.  My car is a couple states away so I can't check.
