My 1969 P&A list part number 3914753.  This is the standard, non-remote, left outside mirror.

So is there a difference between a (68) 3874242, and a 3914753?

3874242 is the casting number for the base. It's not the part number for the mirror itself.

OK so I found a mirror that had that casting and is from 68. Would that be incorrect for my early (10B) 69 camaro?

No way to know. That base was used on other mirrors as well, not just the Camaro. What's the date code etched on the glass?

DMI8 is 1968, so you're good so far. I'm assuming it's a rectangular mirror?

Boy, that one's got a heck of a parting line!!! See if he can get you a high resolution picture of the date code. It's REALLY hard, but if he's got a good camera he should be able to.

Well if it's the correct mirror, does it matter what number precedes the "DMI8"?
I just want it to be prior to October right?

Yes, an October date, but these things were made by the gazillions, so only a little before your build date. In reality, it should be dated 10-DMI-8 to be most correct. 9-DMI-8 would be okay, but anything before that would be really stretching it.
