Burgundy '69 Z28 For Sale, Ebay
« on: January 29, 2015, 08:15:25 PM »
Just a note to the group.  Seller on Ebay selling '69 Z28 stating car has its original number's matching engine.  I have confirmed for a client that it does not.  Here's a photos for all to see.  All of the characters for an 09C late build Z28 engine are incorrect.  The vin stamped numbers are not even close.  Just an FYI, buyer's beware.

Thanks Jerry! I think its great everytime a bogus or restamped Z/28 is exposed! The seller sure lays it on thick in his ad.

For someone who's English usage and spelling seems a bit lacking, he seems to have taken care in NOT referencing the drivetrain components as 'factory original', instead he says...  "The matching numbers motor was redone to factory specs markings by a professional shop. Has all the factory Crayon and Chalk marks on and under the car. All new front and rear suspension was also done on this car. The matching # transmission and rear end have had the same thing done rebuilt strip and repainted to factory color."

He DOES seem to call the car a 'factory original in his last statement although it seems he has more than one..?   :)

"These original matching numbers 1969 Z/28's are a Blue Chip Collectable's and a great investment!! "

I like the color combo. I wonder if it is the same guy who owned it when Jerry did the inspection?

Seller's latest disclaimer...

On Jan-30-15 at 10:50:35 PST, seller added the following information:

"Hi I am going to try to explain this Camaro Z/28. To those guys who are emailing me with all their question and thoughts on my Camaro Z/28 being a restamp. First off I bought this Camaro Z/28 from a high end Collector who told me it is a matching number Camaro Z/28. Then I sent a friend to look at the motor and look at the vin numbers on the block by the oil filter. He call me and told me they where there and look like the correct stampings. So never the less I bought the Camaro Z/28 because of this Camaro Z/28 was restored to a very high quality restoration!! Like I said in the right up I have photo's of the restoration and Protect-O-Plate and other papers. I am not trying to pull the lid over any ones eyes I am being honest on what I know about this Camaro Z/28! So to all of the know it all's out there if you are not looking to buy please don't email me with all of your thoughts and opinions!! Thank you Terry @207-807-6722."

I asked about it being the original spare and got back an answer Of "I really don't care about the tires"
Tough ad to read with the misspelled words. Geez

Hmmmm... Someone or something must of spooked him !   ???  It didn't meet his reserve the first time it was for sale when there was a bid at like $73K.  Now it's been removed with a last bid of $57K and not even close to his reserve.  I HIGHLY doubt someone jumped all over this and paid his price   ;D   Kinda sounds like he'd been duped by one of those so called expert "Classic car restoration" shops and now he's gonna take a bath on it !  or someone else will   :(

Thanks Jerry for spreading the word   :)
