67 rag exhaust replacement

Hello all. I need some advice on replacing my entire exhaust on my 67. I live in Canada. I am not sure if I should just go to a muffler shop or if I should order a package and do it myself. I will be going to the Portland swap meet in April. Should I just buy a set there and bring it back to Canada? If so can anyone recommend a manufacturer that will allow me to replace it myself without to much hassle. Any and all comments are gratefully accepted, thanks. And Merry Christmas to all, especially to all those in the service to Canada and the USA, Law enforcement,emergency personnel and the military.thank you so much for all you do.

Assuming that you are talking about a small block car, my vote goes for D & R Classic Automotive's Part # Z00086-2.  This a 2 1/4" aluminized stock appearing dual exhaust for a small block.  I installed this on my '67 convertible and it is perfect, even the underbody brace fits and the pipes run cleanly through the tunnel.

x2 simply the best! My Gardner system literally fell into the car, it was the easiest part of the restoration.

I live in Canmore Alberta, and my local,and only muffler shop, he was able to get "cards" to enable him to bend up all the pipes and install new dynomax mufflers.Went from single to duels...375.00! Albiet thirteen years ago and still sounds as new..25,000 miles later...Randy

Did Gardner resolve their problems brought up in an older thread? I've have not heard of any installation complaints about D&R's system yet.

While the Gardner system is technically more "correct" its fit and function are the same as that of D&R in my opinion. I also think that D&R, at least half of the price of the Gardner system is the way to go unless you are restoring a Z or a COPO that requires that level of perfection.

Assume your going back to the muffler issue Scott? Someone mentioned not too long ago that the wrinkled muffler ends was still an issue.

here is the old thread.  Gardner has not fixed his issues.
D&R makes a wonderful system at 1/2 the price..

Wow Jeff. I don't remember reading that one. After some of the responses you received I can't say that I'd ever consider doing business with them. Premium prices should command premium satisfaction and I didn't see it there. You should never have had to suck up the freight costs after all that. I hope things worked out better for you in the end. I can't believe they were/are serious with those wrinkles...

Thanks everyone for the info. Finally getting a couple of days to get back at the car. I am assuming the D&R exhaust system everyone is recommending is a stock type system. I was thinking more on the lines of a dual muffler setup. Would D&R offer such a package? If not can anyone recommend a dual muffler package? Thanks.
