Rally wheel color - the black primer

(1/2) > >>

My68SS:
Hi crew, sorry to raise yet another thread on this topic, of which there are numerous already, but I'm still puzzled about the black primer.
Other posts have mentioned that the flowcoat primer was semi-gloss which is something I would have expected anyway, but I've just picked a set of original K17 11 30 XG rims and the primer on the inside, under the tyre, looks quite glossy as per below pic.
The rim on the right is one of the set of 4, the one on the left is another rim I'm restoring which I've sprayed with some full gloss black lacquer onto the cleaned bare steel.
It's pretty hard to pick any difference in the gloss.

The rear does look flatter, but mainly because of the argent overspray which is heavy in patches where it scored a direct hit through the slots and lighter elsewhere from just settling out of the air.
Being enamel, it would have stayed wet in the air for some time [hate the stuff - gets on everything!]

Thoughts/comments appreciated as always.

Gloss black lacquer is not as glossy as gloss black enamel or urethane. That is a pretty good match. I had mine powdercoater semi black and they look perfect.

Looks good to me. Just missing the Argent silver over spray. I have a orig. paint set if you need a pic.

Do you mean in the back of the rim? It's not obvious, but there are over spray patches of argent, one in the pic at about 7:00 o'clock plus others out of shot with a light haze of argent over the whole back side.
Yes please, the more pics the better  :)

L78 steve:
Pics.
