1968 Belgium Factory Assembled Camaro

1968 Camaro, was imported to Holland from Belgium,  and due to work transfer to the US, car was shipped here. It was a barn find (completely disassembled) with frame off, sandblasted, zinced. As I walked into the barn,  the Camaro was sitting on the firewall.
Noticed the floorboard was painted and clean, and asked if it was for sale, made deal on the spot. Reassembled at my shop in Holland, and was considering on turning it into a drag car, until finding an ID plate on the firewall that read "General Motors Continental Antwerp Belgium", with an HX included in the chassis number. Currently has a 489 BB, 4 speed, 12 bolt.

Question to anyone that knows, is there a preformed plate for the tunnel to make room for the Hurst 4 speed shifter linkage?  Any help is appreciated.  Also, anyone interested, has original Belgium title and import documents.

Wow, what an interesting story!  Yes, please post pictures of the car, the tag and any paperwork you have.

Yes, Hurst still makes the competition plus shifter for the 1968.  You can find them on their website or through an aftermarket vendor such as Summit Racing or Jegs.  Amazon and ebay are also good, of course.

Sten.....The original factory shifter and linkage for the 1968 Camaro was the Muncie.  The Hurst shifter and linkage was factory installed in the 1969 Camaro.  If you want a Hurst shifter and linkage for the 1968, you need to purchase the Competition Plus aftermarket version and here is a link to the Hurst site displaying the shifter and installation kit for the Camaro.......http://www.hurst-shifters.com/products/3914339-manual-shifter-competition-plus-shifter/?mk=&yr=&md=&sm=&e=

    Are you asking about where the location for the hole should be if you're wanting to add a 4-speed? There are usually some small dimples in the floor that show where the screw holes are supposed to be for the factory shift boot and the hole would be inside of those four holes. Yes, there is a reinforcement plate on the underside on a factory installation but you don't have to have it if you drill the holes small enough to accept the right size screws.

The trans is to big/ Any help is appreciated.  Also, anyone interested, has original Belgium title and import documents. THIS CAMARO is FOR SALE! 928 377 6998 Kingman AZ.
