The problem this day and age is that whoever owns it wants probably $6,500 or more for their $1,500 car.   I can fix it, but I can not afford the stupid high asking prices anymore.   I had someone contact me about NOS 67 fenders yesterday.   I explained to him that they are not rare and that there is a lot of these parts out there.   I made him a decent offer and told him to think about it and look around at prices.   I get so frustrated anymore that my hobby has turned into big business and if you need a part you have to pay their stupid high prices.     Other problem now is all the car shows on tv make it seem acceptable to make seriously low offers so they can make big profits.    I treat people how I want to be treated.    It is sad for me to see my passion, my hobby ruined by speculators and greed,

That Z/10 looks like it was taken down to metal and then parked outside?

The condition of this car kinda reminds me of another members car on here, that looked like a 20 footer maybe even a ten footer when he bought only to uncover a bunch of rust and shot patch panels underneath. The work looks about the same roughly.  If this car was media blasted or dipped, you would probably double the value right there. Then you could see what you have to work with. It doesn't look ir-repairable to me, but you would have to be passionate about it to get it done the right way. If you have a good title, and good VIN and trim tag along with a garage space to blow it all apart, that would be all the encouragement I would need.

This is assuming you got a good deal on the body, which may or may not be the deal killer here.
It would be cool to see it resurrected from the dead, Good luck with it

Kurt,

Gary when I grew up in the 90's this was the typical project car. In fact I purchased a 66 Chevelle SS that looked identical to this car except with a couple of gallons of orange house paint on it for $900. I slapped an extra 396 and muncie in it I had laying around and drove it for 4 years as a daily driver, and had guys making me offers back then if you can believe it. So I have seen worse. I really wanted that car back then, and I couldn't afford a 8k driver so a project car fit my budget. I think I had around $1500 into it, and had fun drag racing it against my friends 10k muscle cars.

Austin,

I can't believe you drove ANY car with rust holes in the body like this one.   If it was put into a 'derusting' tank, I doubt you'd pull out 300 lbs of good metal!~
The two views I've clipped out here are all I'd need to see to 'Keep on Walking'..  even if it were an original ZL1,  Yenko, X11, Z28, etc...

It would take a totally metal stripped car sitting outside probably 20 yrs here in my area to get THAT rusty... these views are of the top-front of the fender, and the deck lid (not the first areas to rust on these cars)...  I'd not be interested at any price..

Those are all bolt-ons. What matters is underneath.

That's what I'm talking about. If the shell isn't too bad, seems like it is worth the time.

A new jig assembled complete undercarriage can be purchased for $4500; just put the top half of a car including jambs and dash top on it. Cowl too if it's savable. If not, replace that too.
