1969 X66 SS Headlight Bezels?

(1/4) > >>

firstgenaddict:
Car is Cortez Silver.
The grille had the original Cortez Silver on the surround.
The ones I removed, (believed to be the originals) are Argent without trim.
I have looked at more photos than I care to think about plus through Jerry's book and as best I can tell no one I trust has a published answer to the question... it's not in the Grille Report or in Jerry's book and the photos at best are inconclusive.
I see some which have a argent bezel and some with a black bezel and chrome trim.

I never thought this would be an issue... however which ones would be on a X66?

X66:
My X66 came with black bezels without chrome trim. I don't know if they are original since I bought my car in 1988 almost 20 years after it was original. My car has had many repaints but is originally Olympic Gold. The grille is black with black bezels.

http://www.camaros.org/exterior.shtml#1969Grille  It should be a black grill with black bezels for a 69 SS. Since it is an X66 (no style trim), they would NOT have the chrome ring on the bezels. http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#XnnCodes

ALL 69 SS's have bright headlamp trimmed bezels.

This report states that the X55 and X66 carry the same features in regards to headlamp bezels...
My P&A has a note for the bezels (painted)
Does anyone have a part number for black bezels or were they all manufactured in Grey and paint as required?

cook_dw:
I dont think I have seen any NOS black bezels.  I could be wrong but seems like they were all painted.
