She's Painted!
« on: September 03, 2014, 10:09:16 AM »
Here are some pictures my painter sent me the other night when he finished up. I think he knocked it out of the park.

Looks nice. Is that a hard tape line on the firewall blackout? If so it should be softened. Many photos here for reference.

Thanks! I'm beyond pleased with the final outcome. It's pretty cool building a yellow-Z just like my Dad rebuilt his with my Uncle 25 years ago. I'll be able to remember this one a lot better and enjoy the memories. As for the firewall paint line...I haven't seen the car in person. I'm heading up to the shop this weekend to see her. Work seems to get in the way a little too much.

It does look nice. No offense but I think you should have them redo the firewall blackout. It appears they use 3M Soft Sdge Foam Masking Tape. It would not have looked like that from the factory. I'd make sure the dash top has a suede finish also. If you are going all out on a correct resto it makes sense to pay attention to factory correct details. If you are not, then the details don't matter.

Great looking job, firewall or not. What a bumble bee - or yellow jacket, if you prefer. Really pops -

The car looks very nice. One comment, on the top of the cowl I have not seen two separate blackout areas like the painter has done. The two should be connected so there is no yellow gap between the two.

It's actually not a hard line up close. I'm going to leave the firewall alone. I will have to look at the cowl panel when its set in place. If you can see yellow separation I will fix it.
