Correct hog rings for upholstery.
« on: September 03, 2014, 09:20:16 AM »
I am re-covering my seats and I am at the point where I am going to be needing a set of Hog Ring pliers and the rings themselves. I have noticed the rings that were on the seats were round and all of the plier/rings kits I have found online use rings that look more like staples.

Are the round rings available from anywhere along with the pliers ?

Should I just not worry about it and the staple shaped rings will be ok?

The production hog-rings (which came in glued-together 12"-long stacks to load in the air-powered hog-ring guns) were shaped like staples, and the jaws of the hog-ring gun formed them into a round or diamond shape when they closed.
