I'm slow on the uptake on X codes, but this recent post looks similar with the D80.

Overall, the car looks good - but a lot of details that should have been attended to that would have made it even more attractive.

It amazes me that people will overlook the obvious things that don't add up - or maybe they don't care ? Five will get you 10 that whoever ends up with the car will proudly trumpet it's originality (according to the seller). Anyone notice it's the same ad text style as William's previous Caveat Emptor post ? Curious -

I like the hand stamping of the VIN above the filter - nice spacing.

And with a "H" June date on top of that. Man this thing is bad!

If he advertised honestly I think the buyer would pay about 25k and be happy with the car. The way it is now is a lawsuit waiting to happen it seems

The ebay listing is no longer available. I hope some poor sucker didn't make him an offer he couldn't refuse but rather someone called him out on it...

I sent him a note and asked about the tag (not giving specifics). And a couple other things like tranny looked stamped twice. He basically said unless we were there anything could have happened. He's like the 3rd owner. So I said why is the transmission date June in a March car. He replied he didn't know.
Like Austin said lawsuit waiting to happen

The tranny double strike looks like the numbers are shifted down one character. But the light stamp below the stronger one looks like the same numbers, so possibly it was a light strike at first followed by a second one. The same we have seen on block pads. The housing texture looks smooth but not ground down. But the tag, from what little I do know of them, seems to be the red flag. It is a nice looking car though.

Actually I called him out last night.  He mailed me back 3 times, and said your the 4th person to ask me that and followed up with "up to the buyer to know".  I just said be careful of advertising something that it's not..and the restamp on the Trans.
Also thanks for moving my thread over. Sorry,  I didn't see that this was being talking about already under "Caveat Emptor".. I should of caught that though  (

So its up to the buyer to know? I agree somewhat, but his advertising clearly states "NICE INVESTMENT QUALITY REAL DEAL Z/28".....with the word REAL DEAL meaning just that, real....or authentic. Just that wording put the seller in a precarious legal position and could possibly be found guilty of a public offense and he knows it. That's likely the reason it was removed from eBay but I suspect it will be put up for sale through other less public channels.
