Happy Birthday Gary !! 1953 was a good year for Camaro guys. George

How right you are -

Happy Birthday, Gary - 20 days behind you for my 61st. Love the pants - at least they're sitting on top of the F-O-R-D.

Regards,

That was my dads car. 390, auto, Galaxy, red interior. We had a blast in that thing. Dad had a new top installed and the afternoon mom brought it home my younger brother Andy opened an umbrella in the back seat and poked a hole in the top. The kicker...he was singing 'Rain drops keep falling on my head" I couldn't stop laughing , he was only 3 years old so dad couldn't really get mad at him. Andre, my dad, we didn't call him dad we called him Andre, he asked me to fix the hole so I got a bicycle tire patch kit and used the big square piece and glued it on. Stayed that way until my brother got a hold of the car and cracked the block one winter. There was a problem with that big fill tank that Ford used over the top of the rad. The neck broke, work was done and no anti freeze was used. Cracked the block. Not a big Ford fan but really miss that car, miss my dad, he's gone now.

I wish I was at my 29th birthday. I would be in England right now slamming a few beers at the Bird In Hnad across from the Mildenhall Air Base.

Gary,
Winder is still seems like small town to me when I visit there.  There is a lot of growth to the north and west side of Winder.  I lived there until maybe 6 or 7, so saying I grew up in Winder was not totally correct. My grandparents lived there, so we were down two or three times per year, until I got married. Only to return for racing at Road Atlanta or the GM National at Atlanta Drag way and funerals.  I have one remaining aunt that tells me "don't wait until I'm dead to come and see me".  So, for the past several years  I have been going down once a year to she her.

My fondest memories was the rabbit hunting with my uncles and the "Fourth of July" celebration where they had a "Greasy Pig Chasing" contest where you got to keep the pig if you could catch that slippery rascal. When I found out, that I could not catch or hang on to a 50 lb.  pig,  I just started watching. What a hoot, I laughed even harder as I grew older watching kids and some adults try their luck for some bacon, pork chops and barbecue.

My wife and I celebrated our 41st at the Carlisle GM National.  Congrats to you and yours !!!

I've been in a few of those greasy pig chases, great fun, especially after a few beers. I mentioned to some of the local farmers here where I live in Delaware and none have ever heard of it. Fourth of July was always at Stone Mountain for me. Best place I have ever been for fireworks. Must have been on that mountain 1000 times. My wife and I went to Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia when we got married in 85 and the fireworks weren't too bad there on the 4th, but Stone Mountain was the best I think.

Well..  (should I be ashamed to admit this?)...  while I was in Frederick for the Camaro Nationals... One of the guy's wives mentioned it was her birthday, and her husband said he would buy her lunch from the vendor outside..   :)

That triggered something in my head.. so I glanced at my watch to see what day it was... and realized that it was the 20th of June..  Mine and my wife's 44th Wedding Anniversary!...   so I said....
'OMG..   I probably should call home and wish her a happy anniversary!"...
... Which I did later that evening... :)   and I took her out to the most expensive restaurant in town the following Saturday night (a week later) after I got home...  :)

PS.  We were married on 20 June 1970 in the Chapel on Keesler AFB, MS... and took a honeymoon trip to New Orleans in my new lime green 70 Roadrunner!  :)      Forgive me for posting photos of an 'off-brand' in a Camaro website.. :)
