I was also very impressed with Larry's  (Scoop's) 68 Z28. It is one of the finest restored car's I've seen. Larry, I also enjoyed the time we spent visiting. Hope to see you soon! Fred

While at the Nationals I met a guy from CRG and we talked about my car having the wrong year trunk lid. He mentioned he had several nice lids. I wrote his name after our conversation but can't find it now. If you read this can you contact me, I am very interested. I need a nice late 68 - early 69 lid. George

Post pictures of your trunk lid.  I think I can help with the differences.

X2...let me know too. Meaning I need a better lid. I know the 69 lid has tabs on the underside lip where it meets tail panel, A couple of mine have dates a couple don't. Someone else might chime in with exact ID in addition to what I mention. Will find a pic.http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=6351.0 bottom of post shows 68 lid with tabs, like 69 early before 3/69.

I'm assuming it has to do with the stamping change in location and/or the design change due to Trans-am Firebird.
Was great meeting everyone at Frederick and again those that came up to Carlisle on Saturday.
And all the cars looked great so congratulations to everyone especially Larry's 1000 point kick off! Well done Larry!

From my experience, the 67 lids have the tabs on the underside of the lip with no provisions for a spoiler.  68 & early 69 is the same with the tabs but have the provisions for an addition of a spoiler.  Late 69 does not have the tabs but has the circular cutout in the outer layer of the skin on the inside of the lid.  If anyone has any info different please jump in.

Later 69 lid

We were there(at frederick) for the discussions on the 69 trunk lids. What we heard was 2 things….
-The lower hole has to be there(as circled in the picture above)
-the outward dimple, directly below the acorn nut circled(about 5-6") should be there

Here is a pic of the lid on my 67 which I believe to be the original lid.  This is due to not having the oval cutout in the outer layer for the movement of the emblem when a spoiler was added.  There is also a stamp on the inside of the lid, in the lower center when the lid is open.  Just cant make out what mine says.

Here is a pic of my original lid on my 68.  Hard to see but the tabs are there and no circular cutout in the out layer.

My fathers original 68 lid.

Ill also I am not sure when the cut-offs were for the changes to the lids.  Might be able to narrow it down if we have some dates from original lid cars.  FWIW, I didnt know that 67's got the 2nd version of the lid (like the 68's) due to 67's not getting spoilers.  I also thought it was 67 - 8 - 9 versions of the lids...??..  But I have started seeing very early 9's with the 68 style lids.  But not many and I can not state that they were original to the cars..

NOTE:

Maybe this should be split into 2 threads.??...
