67 Camaro Standard AC Switch
« on: June 10, 2014, 01:37:25 PM »
I have fixed my blower on the factory air 67 camaro standard.  Does anyone have a picture of the AC switch that kick on when the lever on the four season console is pulled to cold and activates the compressor?  The wiring diagram doesn't help with the physical location.

If it's like the 69 version, it sits on top of the heater box inside the car, up against the firewall, near the defroster duct riser.  Not a fun place to get to especially if you have a console. I't controlled by thearm on top of the heater box, connected to the damper that lets the air into the car after passing thru the evaporator in the A/c suitcase.

Thanks Mark. I have a console on my 67 and you are right about crawling under there and looking, especially in Texas heat.   Is this an electrical switch or a vacuum one?  Not sure if 69's had any vacuum switches but 67's do.

Its an electrical switch triggered by the door linkage for the door that lets the air into the car from the suitcase.  Theres no vacuum switches on a 69, except the one that operates the heater isolation valve, and the two dampers in the cowl area (one on top of the cowl, the other behind the passenger kick panel)
