LI Corvettes ( http://http://licorvette.com/ ) has one that looks like the same and for a lot less.
They have plastic and rubber versions.

Plastic - 39-25B  $1.50
Rubber- 39-25C  $10.00
Their search page: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?userwatch~dynamicSearchPage~cadeikba%20?
I don't know if there is any printing on the back. It may be worth a call to them.

Ed,
Do you have a group # for 4591473? The parts book I have only goes up to 9.800, the rest is missing.

Paul,
I have that on my watch list but too expensive for me.

Mike,
Is your grommet plastic or rubber?
Thanks for the picture and the lead.

Thank all for the replies.

It also depends on which P&A you're looking at. The September, 1968 P&A 34 is Group 15.300.

I also believe originals are kind of a rubberized plastic. Not the hard plastic of the repops, but not a full rubber either. Kind of an in-between.

Ed,
I have Rev.10-1-69  P&A 30A but I would like to find an early 1968 P&A so there would be less possibility of part number changes.

I'd say the one on eBay (Alliance Plastics, Erie PA) has to be a lot later production - compare it to my original I salvaged from my carpet when I changed it in (about)'73-'74 - company was previously Niagara Plastics, Erie, PA, and had the numbers "833" and "3" molded into the reverse side; hope the pictures are clear enough. As was mentioned earlier, it's not rubber, not a hard plastic - kind of in between.

I knew there was a reason why I saved it all these years - just to see how wild prices get on these things sometimes.

This one is in good enough shape to go back in the car. Maybe I could trade it for the Pace Car jacket on eBay - lol.

Steve

Bob,

I checked the 67 4B LOS and it looks exactly like the pictures Steve posted with one exception, Steve's has a lone number 3 and mine is the number 2. Otherwise the manufacturer and '833' are the same and relative to each others position.
As for rubber vs plastic, I would say a flexible plastic. If I had to order one and the choice was rubber or plastic, I would select plastic.

I have a couple originals including the one out of our 68 and it sure seems just to be plastic. The huge issue is the inside diameter on the grommet that comes with the repro carpet vs. the carpet grommet originals. Original on the right. And they can be found without spending a lot. Purchased an original off a Camaro dealer at Spring Carlisle for $1.00 just to have for another spare. I could assume GM used that grommet on my types of GM cars.

Yes, that sounds about right. The same kind of flexible plastic used in a lot of the interior parts. Like the grab handle for instance.

Update,
Did a search on Alliance Plastics Company and found that they were formed in 1968.
Steve was right on about the ones on eBay being for later production.
Anyone with an original 69 please verify the manufacturer of your dimmer switch grommet so this thread can be completed.
