Great photos!  I remember this race - with about 20 minutes to go before the start the sky turned black and it looked bad weather for sure.  One problem - we had passed the hat among the crew to
buy one set of tires.  A decision was made to buy rains, and we just had time to get them on the car.  By the start it was already raining hard, but after about 45 minutes it quit and the track started
to dry.  I dodged several spinning cars during the rain.  When the first fuel stop came at the 1 hr. mark we should have changed to drys but we did not have a set that would last for the duration,
so I stayed out on rains.  It was hot and humid and with the high track temperature, they started to shred and I just limped it home on those worn out rains.

Finished 13th but the frustrating part was that the 3 cars ahead of me also finished on the same lap, so in hindsight I should have pushed harder and taken a chance on the worn out tires?

At the end of the race I was bushed with heat exhaustion and had to be helped out of the car by medics and was taken to the first aid tent.

This was the race that afterwards I spotted the Chaffey College car driving down the road with the dump cans sticking out of the rear window area.  Apparently it was driven out from CA?
