Historic Trans Am Events 2014

I was wondering what would be the most complete Trans Am event to attend?
 There is the Sonoma event on May 17, Rolex/Mazda event on Aug 14, and the Coronado event in September.
  We want to see the trans Am events with the most cars in attendance.
   Any advice or recommendations would be apprecitated.

Based on past experience, you will find the the most cars at the Monterey Historics.  General Racing has not even updated their website with 2014 info with only 1 month to go for Sonoma.
Sonoma does not have all the other hoopla like auctions and concorso events like Monterey, but there are washrooms and grandstands for viewing close by the paddock - important for an old coot like me.

I have not been to Coronado, but perhaps Chad or Jon can comment for that event.

Coronado Island is nice however I personally prefer the natural race track settings of Sears Point (Sonoma) and Laguna Seca.

Can you get up-close to the cars at Sonoma, or do you have to have some VIP type thing to talk to the teams and see cars?

How about the same question for Monterey?

I don't want to go through the trouble only to realize I have to keep 50ft of distance at all times.  hahaha

General admin tickets will get you into the paddock up and close for either Monterey or Sonoma.

Warning - bring a cc with room or lots of cash to Monterey if you want to take part in all the festivities.  Book your motel room early for either event - cheaper rates the farther you
are from the track.

Thanks for the responses Any recommendations for views or seating? I can not find a schedule of races either. Robert, are you participating in any of the events or attending?
  The wife and I have been "going next year" for years, its time. My wife Robbie may have watched you race in Riverside as her family attended most events there during those years.

Victor, not sure yet about attending either event this year.  Have been to the Monterey Historics 9 or 10 times since 85 and probably 3 or 4 times to the Sonoma historics.  Did race at the 80 Laguna Seca T/A -
was scheduled to go to Riverside the following wknd. but a race accident at Laguna prevented that.

If you google  "events Monterey car week" and "Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion" you will find some info.  Sonoma has not listed their schedule yet but should be similar to 2013.
Note that there will be no T/A racing at Laguna on the Sunday from what I could find.

Note that you will pay extra for seats at Monterey over the pits and between turns 2 and 3 but they are free in the Sonoma grandstand next to the paddock.

ALso, do you think there will be any T/A related racing on Sunday at Sonoma? If I make it at all, I'd only be for sunday, or late on Saturday and Sunday.

Just got this info from Chad -

Fri - T/A practise @ 10:30 AM and @ 2:50 PM - both 15 min. each

Sat - Q @ 2:50 pm - 25 min.

Sun - race @ 2:30 PM - 11 laps

I've heard T/A is coming to COTA in Austin Tx this fall.....might google that too.

According the the Historic Trans-Am schedule, they will be at the Monterey pre-historics, and also the COTA vintage nationals.

I know they are not coming this year but does anyone know if they will be coming back out to the Midwest in the future?  I'd love to see them back at Road America again or perhaps Mid-Ohio.

I've heard there's going to be an 8 race schedule in 2016 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Trans-Am
series and I suspect Road America will be one of the venues. I have not heard what the plan is for 2015.

Monterey will have the most cars, probably 45 or so. Sonoma will be close to that number. In Monterey, there will be some track time at the PreReunion the weekend prior, I suspect many cars will be at the Concours on the Avenue (Carmel) the Tuesday between, and then they will run Thursday practice, Friday practice, and 2 races on Saturday (nothing on Sunday).

Can I get some more info on this statement? Such as what and where this is going on, what time, and most importantly, what do I have to do to be able to see this.
