I had a Camaro Day with a fellow CRGer, we had fun
« on: March 09, 2014, 02:31:17 AM »
As some of you have followed, my car's restoration had stalled when I was having difficulty finding someone to do the body work on my 69. After a plea and post on here and several supportive members coming forward, I believe things are back on track. A heartfelt thanks to all who have helped. One member, Buenymayor, told me about his body guy and sent me pics and helped me make contact with , mrls6, in Ft. Wayne,Ind. I had a good feeling about this guy from the first contact. Today, Buenymayor and I met at his house in downtown Buena Vista, Ind. and drove up to see his car and to give me a chance to meet mrls6 in person. We all hit it off and we all had a lot more in common than just our love of Camaros. Arrangements have been made for my car to be started on in April. He(mrls6) is finishing up on Buenymayor's car right new. Thanks CRG and get ready to follow this restoration as things progress. Yea, I am nervous about the money holding out, but I only have this one life and don't want to have regrets, so will press forward and try and join the ranks of restored correctly Camaro owners. Now, I am in S.W. Ohio and Ft. Wayne is not in my backyard, but mrls6 impressed me with his knowledge and desire and ability to do the job right. So, looks like I have a plan. Wish me luck! ;)

Full throttle??...My bank account has a governor on it,lol
I'll add, I had to leave my house a 5 am to meet up with Bueny at 7 am. Did not get home till 8 pm! Long day, for sure. Bueny was disappointed as he planned on taking a maiden voyage in his COPO clone, but weather did not co-operate.

Bentley. Man, you couldn't have said that any better. """Full throttle??...My bank account has a governor on it,lol"""

I don't have the luxury of having the funds to do anything with my car and if I did, there is a guy I worked for off and on in the 80's and 90's that has put out some really decent restorations about 15 minutes from me in Massey, Maryland. I feel for those guys that have to hunt for this type of work when somebody of this caliber is right in my back yard.

Good luck in finally getting things started on the body work. It can get quite expensive from what I have seen first hand with any car at my friends place.

Yeah, it was a good day.... except the weather when we got up there. I was really looking forward to driving this thing again after 12 years, but it just wasn't in the cards. The car will be home in a couple weeks, so it's getting close. After having this thing off the road for 12 years, what's 2 more weeks?  ;D Here's a picture or two if I can get it top work:

You're right Bullitt, I am going to have fun with this car. Just about the time the weather straightens up, it will be home. I'm about 2.5 hours due south of Fort Wayne. The guy doing the car is in Fort Wayne.

Congrats to both of you guys! Buenymayor's car looks great. ko-lek-tor, I'm happy to see you have things back underway. It's a great feeling I'm sure. I'll keep an eye out for your posts. Maybe I can pretend it's my car getting some wrench time seeing how they're almost twins.

I gotcha, Buenymayor, I may be out in Auburn for the (RM) auction/swapmeet  the week leading up to labor day weekend. I have a pact with a good friend that if he blows the cob webs off his unrestored 69Z and gets it there I will meet him with mine. We have been joking about it for many years now though, so who knows. I am going to try to make the show either way. I usually hit it midday tuesday, then wednesday, thursday, friday. The weekend is to crazy for me. I am sure you have been there at least once right?
