69 molding under spear?
« on: September 29, 2006, 01:46:47 PM »
Has anyone ever run across an anodized aluminum molding that attaches under the spear at the lower rocker on a 69 camaro? I pulled a set off a restoration project thinking they were some homemade attempt to protect the paint on the rocker under the spear molding. After looking them over they appear to be a factory made molding with attaching clips etc. about 2 1/2" wide and fit perfect to the rocker from wheel well to wheel well  ??? Just wondering if it could be a dealer install or something of that nature before I throw them in the mystery parts pile never to be seen again.

You nailed it Mikey. I did a google search on the Firebird sprint option and thats exactly what it looks like. Amazing what these cars are subjected to over the years...fads....personal taste etc. The molding does'nt look bad with the 70's version torpedo mirrors and psyhcodelic painted butterflies that were on it  :D

Thanks for the feedback
