The pace car is behind the trailer.

That appears to be a situation for 'building a car' around a firewall/dash (subject of another thread)..  :)

I thought I saw them fix that one? I can't recall. I remember seeing posts about the accident and remembering how sick I was for the guy.

I feel sick for the guy too!   It looked line a fine car before the accident.   It reminds my of my sister coming home crying  when I was in my early 20's
"I've wrecked my 72 Nova, it's bad"  She wasn't hurt thank God, so we got in my car and drove into town. (The Nova had been driven to her friend's house)  I still recall coming down the street and thinking..............."what's wrong with that car?"   Long story short, she had lost control on a gravel road, hopped a ditch into a field, made a big U turn in some farmer's corn field and driven back to town.   The front frame was bent upwards so badly on the driver's side, the driver's side tire was barely touching the ground!  Dad and I  stripped it down (all the damage was cowl forward) new front frame, fenders, hood, grill, etc,  painted the whole car and all aligned properly, and drove great.
This car definitely is a hard fix.   I'm hoping its rebuilt.   It is hard to see a 69 bent.  Jim

If the rear frame rails are straight then the rest of the body is likely square. Looks like the outer panels plus inner wheel tubs need replacement, for starters. If it were mine I'd rebuild it if I had a sentimental attachment to it.
Trunk floor boards can be replaced as well as the inner braces.

I remember that happening, wow.... I heard the trailer ball snapped off during a panic braking situation after the trailer jack-knifed.

What's the story behind this? Was the car coming from or to a show?
That's the kind of accident whereby you wake up the following morning and hope it was just a bad dream.

As I remember it the owner had just bought it at an auction in Florida, and was bringing it home when he came upon another accident and jackknifed the trailer and flipped it, the trailer and the pickup pulling it off the side of the highway.  Doubt he had any or enough insurance on it at the time to do any meaningful repairs to the car, but don't know what became of it.

From "Jim" on the Yenko site: "The 69 Pace Car camaro that was pictured here in the Turkey Rod run friday picts met an untimely end on its way home last week. A very good friend of mine bought it and was tranporting it back home to Pa. I left Daytona Sunday at noon headed back to Pa only to encounter 3 accidents slowing 95 just north of Daytona, cruised thru Georgia to wind up stopped just south of the South Carolina border, i had exited to get food when my phone rang . My paniced neihbor told me he had been in an accident at mile marker 5 in S.C. and he needed my help. It took me an hour to get 5 miles. What I saw was not easy on the stomach but he was unheart. His Duramax dually, 35 foot 2 car trailer and 69 Pace car got tangled up and slid jacknknifed backwards down a 65 foot ravine rolling everything over and over. You wont beleive someone walked away from this. I need help to post the rest of the pictures on here ."
The trailer ball snapped off. Supposedly the car went to Cali to get repaired after the insurance company sold it to a new owner with a salvage title.
