Found some paperwork...
« on: February 11, 2014, 08:35:56 PM »
Still haven't found our POP and other reciepts (which my dad swears are in their house somewhere), but did find this. Our car is an 01B, he said he didn't take delivery until early Feb. But he swears he ordered it in late Oct and paid for it in Dec (actually my grandpa paid for it because my dad was 15 at the time). But then the dealership 'screwed up' on the order (dad thinks they were selling above MSRP at the time, sold his car when it came in and reordered another).

Anyway, found this registration reciept. Kind of cool.

Sorry, a little clarification. This is the 69 registration, not the Dec 68 one. But since the renewal is each year, the car would have originally had it sometime in Dec 68.

I don't understand how it could be an 01B car (Jan '69 build) and require/have a Dec '68 registration???

Thats a nice little prize, and will probably wet your thirst to find more. I am fortunate to have the p.o.p. for 2 of my cars, but I have a 66 impala I got from the original owner, and I am still waiting for the call that they have run across the p.o.p. for that car. They have a garage full of stuff, (including a 65 lemans convertible) and haven't gone through it yet. I will jet have have to be patient...

Yes, good question.

The last few new vehicles I've bought from a dealership that needed new plates came with 'older' tabs on them. My last car was bought in November, but had Sept tabs on it. I think dealerships buy tabs in bulk.

Just wish we could find the POP and other paperwork. Probably could tell the registration story better.

OK.. you buy your 'tag' the first year, and they give you a sticker for that year, then subsequent years, you get a new 'sticker'.   Alabama does that also now, but in 1969, we got new tags each year (the year was on the tag, not the sticker).   But that doesn't explain why someone is paying for a tag before they even build the car???   I sure wouldn't do that... :)

well your just covering the car currently being registered. When we bought our last car I negotiated the price out the door, no fees, license blah blah. As the buyer you can negotiate it all. Some people pay extra for registration, some pay for the remaining registration left.
