RPO HO1 Option ('68)?
« on: January 28, 2014, 08:03:19 PM »
Hello, been through several threads on this, and am still not clear as to the rarity of the 3:07 gear ratio for '68 cars. My POP indicates "PP1011G" in positions B15-21.  I interpret the PP as a 12 bolt limited slip with 3:07 gears.  Is this RPO "H01"?  If so, according to the RPO datasheet, only 556 were made in '68.  I've seen comments that this was a common rear end/gear ratio for SS cars which contradicts my assessment....
Any clarification is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Ed

The axle ratios you see in the RPO SPREAD SHEET are for "non-standard" applications NOT listed in the "Power Teams" chart.

Another way of putting it is any axle shown in the "Power Teams" chart for a particular engine/transmission combination, was NOT included in the H01 count. To be included in the H01 count, a customer would have to request an axle ratio that WASN'T in the "Power Team" chart. There were several available (RPO H01, G94, G96, etc...). In 1968, only 556 customers that had engine/transmission combinations that didn't inlude the ability to get the 3.07 axle, ordered H01 so they could.

Ahhh... ok..... got it! Thanks very much.  So are you aware of a data source which specified the # of cars that received the 3.07:1 gear ratio's with the qualified engine/tranny?
