Here is a better car, IMHO. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/557472/1969_Z28_Lemans_Blue_51k_origi#Post557472

whats funny is, thats the way the other car on ebay probably looked brand new, (no spoilers and a flat hood), and looks like it has all the correct X77 items. The ebay car has various X33 items added here and there. Both cars are the same color, both X77, with the endura bumper, very nice combo.

It does look nice (hopefully it has windshield wipers by now). So in your opinion do you think it is a $88k car?

Personally, yes. Fantastic looking car. That said, and meaning no disrespect to the current owner or restorer (James has done an incredible job), I find it perplexing that so much effort has been spent in meticulously replicating all the original factory finishes, including all the paint runs, coverage issues and variations observed on true survivors, and yet they used a BC/CC paint system.
Perhaps this is due to state environmental regulations preventing lacquer use?

unless you had a private booth, and had access to lacquer products, it is going to be tough to get a car painted in the states with it now a days.

I hope he gets it.

James is a friend and is painting my X66 Convertible. He is an incredible technician to detail, especially to originality. That is what I really appreciate. It is much harder to restore to 100% original than restoring to just making it look pretty. But ya'll all know that.

That 2nd car from Yenko.net is one of the prettiest 69 Z's I've seen in a long time.  Very well done.

yep--literally every inch of my car was shot(digital pics) by the body man(also my old friend) to match what came out of the factory when he shoots it this spring, they were not perfect rolling off the line. Would have already been done if we were going for pretty. He gets to it when he can ,and I'm in no hurry--told him we are a match made in heaven. He's getting a kick out of the 68 build manual and Jerry's book, which reminds me I need to get them back!

I can buy lacquer at my jobber and it can be sprayed privately or at any shop.

The lacquer on these cars was reflowed, not cut and buffed.  Cutting uncleared lacquer too much distrupts the metallic and creates a blotchy appearance. And today's lacquer is not like that of '69, so painters choose BC/CC instead.

It is re-listed again today, Danny you have another shot at it:

I really like that car, (PBT) or not.. :)    Does anyone know what happened on the first auction?  Did it make reserve? or ??

A quick check shows at $62K the reserve was not met, so perhaps the seller and high bidder couldn't agree on a price, or buyer wasn't all that into it with 26 feedback?

This car is discussed on Yenko.net. One of the members there owns it. Sounds nice.

Well even with the upgrades on spoilers and hood, it definitely presents nice. I wonder how close he was to selling it the first time.
