Wonder what the new 2015 Z06 will sell for? Per Autoweek, "We won't get a complete look at the specs of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 until it makes its official debut at the upcoming Detroit auto show, but a web coding blooper means we get a sneak peak at some of its vital stats before the reveal. Specifically, it's set to get 620 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque -- a big boost over the 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque the base 'Vette enjoys."
DANG, that's some ponies and torque.........

My buddy is retiring 1-21 this year and just showed me a copy on line of the new 427 Vette he ordered. Green ,tan interior ,convertible. 1K less than the Z out the door.

Saw the vid of the Z ,awesome ! But I think Chevy has gotten away from the target crowd of young people who can afford a "hot" car that can keep pace with a 75K car (stop light to stop light anyway)

Other end of the spectrum from my retiring buddy: young guy comes on, appears secure in his job. Saves for a year and puts some money down on a new Mustang. Whatever the "hot one" out there is--I don't follow the models. Black convertible top ,black leather, charcoal body. Sounds and runs strong. 36k. Of course he priced the supercharger at 8k---add headers, exhaust say he'll be at 46k--a lot of money but not so bad for a single guy with a good job. This package turned high 8's in a stock engine/suspended mustang on small slicks--no cage and should not have been able to run. But a very noted Mustang builder, guess he got a pass. Read the article last year.

Update on the new guy: getting married this September so plans for the supercharger are on hold for now ;) Would not be as funny if not 100% true ! He's been getting offers in the low 20's for the Mustang at work- LOL.

Timeless story and I'm sure a past most of the "hot cars" on this site share. But how many 69 Z's alone were sold ? And who was buying them? Pretty sure they were able to run stop light to stop light with a Vette. Or hold their own. I know with 4:88's and headers they turned in to quite a SOB. Don't call me names, but maybe GM should be putting out some affordable (see Ford in affordable) muscle out there. Save the high dollar iron for the empty nesters who planned well for the future. Anybody read stats on average student loan balances ? Younger crowd not lining up to buy 75K cars anytime soon...

Student loan balances......what a shame for the US. Foreign students come here to work after graduation in their homeland and pay off their loans in their home country within a couple of years because the cost is so damn cheap there compared to US education costs. In the meantime, US students have student loan balances for over a decade to pay off and also have to compete against foreign workers here and accept the lower wages to get a job. So yes, these younger US students (hence future car owners) will not be lining up to pay $75K for a car.

I was at my dealer today and he didn't have his info handy but thought he just sold a base vette in the high 50s and he said the z06 were in the upper 80s.  Not sure the z06 is the new one if it went up any. He thought they would probably get a z. Would be a fun car if someone else paid for it!

gets worse. Degrees are getting longer to obtain eg; what once required a BS 20 years ago now requires a doctrine. I also work in physical therapy and hear the 30 something's complaining about 1. 6 figure average student loan debt. Was stated house will be paid off before loan. 2. Make considerably less as compared to their counterparts coming out of school 20 years ago. On average loans were able to be paid off in a few years.  I had a professor who lectured that this was on the horizon and it has since come to pass. Reason $$ for the schools via easy credit.

And no one dare enter the trades ?? Somebody used the term "grease monkey" recently in the treads: Know what these folks are starting at with 2 years post HS education ? Not getting rich, who is ? But a  good living in this day and age. Minus the 800 a month student loan payment. IBEW are running ads trying to entice young folks to enter the program. No luck. Found a niche for my son in the BS program for Welding Engineers. Guess what, AWS provides progressive scholarships for those willing to work. Oh, and companies provide paid internships during the summer , for those who earn it through hard work in school. Now if only he could pick up a new Z relative to 68 prices when he graduates ,the American dream ! Of course it would probably be sold once married, but thus the cycle continues !

I am not sure which dealer that is Janobyte. Maxton sells some and Jeff Wyler took over McDormans.
I get my trucks out of the dealer that used to be Frosts that sold some COPO Camaros. The salesman started working there in 67 and he remembers the cars around. I think he was in high school. They move a lot of trucks. I have been trading every year with him and with the discount/rebates and my gm card, the last 2 years I have traded for less than 2000 plus some tax. He has plaques in his office as the top zone salesman in the last 5 years. They just opened a new office and getting ready to tare down the old building. I had a service area for like 4 cars if you parked just right.

New Z06-race car on street!
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2014/01/2015-chevrolet-corvette-z06-race-car-street.html
Wait a year and save up your money..   then in another 6 months or a year, that car will be 'old news'..  it's all part of Chevy's marketing plan.  :)   very similar to the computer industry..  each new model has *jsut enough* 'new' to make one want to buy it.  *G*

I wonder how the ZL-1's are selling. There has been a black one on my local lot for at least 6 months. I predict deep discounts on the Z/28's at the end of the summer. GM missed their market completely.
