Z10
« on: September 30, 2014, 01:31:53 PM »
I recently did a search thru NCRA on my Z10 and found out it was sold new in Memphis Tn so according to CRG only two were sold in Tn . I did contact the dealership and to my surprise the lady that answered the phone had been working there for 45 years and remembered my car.She told me it was on the show room floor and they did a big promotion with the car , one of the ladies that worked there took pictures with the car wearing a black & white hounds tooth jacket which matches my interior. She also said that other dealerships came by to check out the car because they did not received any Z10's . It sure would be cool to find original owner I tried the Tn DMV but had no luck ,I could not access data back that far online. ??? Anyone having idea's on this I would appreciate your help. I live in Texas I have owned the car since 1996 I did title search here it went back two previous owners found out it was sold at a police auction in 1984 for $10.00 it was abandon at a apartment complex with no motor or transmission . The guy who bought it made a drag car out of it raced it for 10 yrs and then sold the body to the guy I bought it from who put in a motor & trans raced it for a year then decided to put it back on the street. It was a 396 car and I think it was a automatic it now has a 1969 427 with a TKO 600 5 speed.

Cool.
The report says "(and at least two Z10's were sold new in western TN)". I'll change that to 3.

What dealer and when did NCRS say it was produced?

Send in a records request to the TN DMV. TN goes way back with off-line history.

EDIT:

Kurt,
The best TN DMV will do now is 12 years.  Had to go back and look at my paperwork.

Here is the doc you will need to fill out.

Very cool Paceman!

My car was sold in Pampa, TX and the dealership is still in business also.  Several years ago, I visited the owner who took over management of the dealership from his dad, a friend that was a year younger than me in high school.  His dad was in the office and we got to visit about the car, but neither had a clue that it was anything special.  They let me go into there archives to hopefully find the original dealer paper work,  the records went all the way back to 1970.  The dad told me a few years earlier they cleaned house and threw the really old stuff out.

I did however find a box of NOS chrome dealer emblems from the time which they gave me, so I did score something.

Did you ask that lady if it might be possible to get a copy of that photograph that was made???    Would be worth chasing it down.. :)
