Are you planning on going ? or are you looking at purchasing any of them?
I have been to a handful of Mecum auctions mostly in Indianapolis, just long enough to look over some nice cars as I would if I was at a car show. Sometimes I'll note a lot number if I am curious what it bid up to, I look it up later online when I get home, I never stay for the auction, to boring for me. If I knew there were some unrestored cars up there in Anaheim I might check it out, I live in SoCAl now and Anaheim is about an hour from me, pending traffic.

Heading that way in a few hours. I'm with Bullitt65, I sort of treat it like a car show with a twist. For me the first day is the best because all the cars are still there and the ones that go to auction first tend to be the most affordable. I did register to bid just in case I see something I have to have.  :) Velocity has live TV coverage all three days.

I'm heading over there now, I've been asked to drive the cars up to the auction block all 3 days, sounds like fun.

No, I work in Anahiem and have seen the parade of cars on trailers being taken to ACC. saw 2 Corvettes this afternoon, both of late 60's vintage. Yesterday the Shelby van was a head turner, as was the orange/white stripe 69 Camaro.
I also saw the 54 Chevy truck I was looking at purchasing from the Lambrecht dealership in Nebraska

The Shelby van? You mean this turd? We stopped to look at it only because we couldn't figure out why it was there.

Is it a desirable vehicle? We kind of thought it represented a low point in an otherwise great mans life.

There is an old thread on TC about this car. What did you think of the car?

it doesn't quite look as dark as the other burnished brown cars I have seen, including yours. I can't believe the LOS cars had a different shade of burnished brown. Repaint?

Carburetor Carl (current owner) stated the car was repainted many years ago by Earl Scheib.

I second that - and being in CA its entire life (assuming VN and NOR used the same paint) it should look like mine

Sold. $1300. Actually not a bad price for a running van with 103,000 miles and working AC.

36k, I haven't seen the car close up, but Maybe he should have taken the 80K he says he was offered a few years back. Or he will have to wait until the next surge in pricing?

Saw the COPO go across $180K pretty sure.  For that kinda coin, you would think they could install the air cleaner seal properly

I thought I saw a black 67 convertible RS/SS 396/325 go for $90K. Drivetrain was claimed original though the detail didn't look that great. I thought that was quite high.
Saw a 98 Viper GTS go for $25K...Thought that was a steal!

Got a kick out of the uninformed commentators on that one - " COPO's all had the hydraulic-lifter 427, and the Stewart-Warner tach on the column...."  :-(

JKZ27 I drove that 67 RS SS triple black 396 325 4 speed, 23kmiles or so, across the block, I talked with the family that owned it, the kids were bummed that Dad did not give it to them, very nice family, engine bay was clean but not detailed correctly. I congratulated the Dad and gave my apologies to the kids LOL
Driving all of those cars across the block was a ball, my friend Dave drove the COPO across and he will never forget that experience either.
