Movie / TV Camaros
« on: November 01, 2013, 07:17:45 PM »
While doing a search for photos I stumbled across many older pictures of screen shots from tv shows and/or movies with are beloved 1st gens in them.  So I thought I would post some of those pics and see if anyone here could guess the show or movie from which it was from..   :P
If you have one dont hesitate to post it up.  I love seeing vintage photos or clips of these cars.

And no cheating!!   ;D

Heres the first:

BEWITCHED, HOW GREEN WAS MY GRASS

The Camaro leaves at around the 3 minute mark and comes back at around the 4:30 minute mark. (And yes, the tail pan is semi gloss black.)

Is that a big block car or small block? Sounded awfully quiet when it drove off.

It appears that Daren and Sam had lots of Camaros.

The Camaro in the photo above is obviously a big block with blue interior, and blue top cover.

Another 1967 without the blacked out tailpan, added bumper guards and now white interior and top cover.

Darren and Sam's neighbor across the street has a nice red 67 Camaro convertible.

In fact, all of the housewives in Bewitched drive classic Chevy muscle (Camaros, Corvettes, Chevelles, all convertibles of course)

And don't get me started on other Camaros in show business...

In the movie Transformers, I heard they were supposed to use a 69 Camaro as pre-Bumblebee, but they could not find the required number of 69 Camaros that were junked out and inexpensive, so they went with the oh so popular 75-76 POS Camaro.
Don't forget Danny's 69 Camaro convertible on the TV show Las Vegas
Drew Barrymores 69 pace car on the movie Charlie's Angels (that I got outbid on when it was on ebay, and now sits in a Gatlinburg TN car museum, with a VIN less than 50 away from my current pace car.
John Cusack's 68 Camaro in Better Off Dead
Tomboy...68 Camaro
Christine...67 Camaro
Burt Reyonlds 68 Camaro in Cop and a half - I last seen this at the Orlando Universal Studios sitting in their bone yard.
Tuff Turf - 68 Camaro
Fast and Furious - 69 Camaro Yenko

And for a complete list....I just found this....

That movie (At Close Range) had some great cars. That was one of the things I liked best about the movie.

It was pretty cool to watch these shows then and even better now that we know what we like. Here is another pic I circulated this past summer. Love the color combo on it.

or " King of the Mountain" with Dennis Hopper and Harry Hamlin I think they wreck another 68 in that one.

A Camaro ('68?) was used in the bulldozer crash scene in the original "Vanishing Point". David Keith drove a '69 Z28 in  "Independence Day" (1983). Jim

Not surprisingly, no mention of "Bullitt" yet, but it is full of everything, including the yellow '67 coupe at the car wash scene (Duvall and McQueen in the taxi). Car had to be about a year old, or less. I found a pic, but can't resize it -

Shame McQueen wasn't driving an L78 SS - he probably would've caught the Charger before they got out of town - or the first hill -

Our '68 was shown in an episode of CHiPs during a drag racing segment.  Filming took place at the Brotherhood Raceway on Terminal Island, California on the day after Thanksgiving, 1980.  The air date was a few months later.  Used to have a VHS tape of that episode but it was misplaced a long time ago.

Just watched that movie the other night and I was thinking hopefully that 67 Camaro wasn't something special Like a Z, (since it had the stripes, and no motor Identification).

Jim Morrison was known to Thrash all makes of the top muscle cars of his time. He drove every one till it died and quickly bought another. they lasted days and maybe weeks, and was also known to have left a few south of the boarder.
 Much like his life.

I see a couple of things I couldn't see in my small pic - wheel well trim, rear bumper guards. Full wheel covers, but I can't make out the type. Also noticed that's Duvall, with McQueen approaching off his shoulder to the right. Great flick - I still look at the chase occasionally to see all of the cars on the street.

Thanks for expanding it -

CHiPs episode..

I'm not sure which episode featured the blue '67.  Our drag racing sequence was in season 4, episode 10 entitled "Forty Tons of Trouble."  At that time the '68 was black with candy red hood stripes.

My 67 RS was in a movie in Cambodia in 1969. Have a look at my post in foreign camaros in this forum. There is a link to the movie on you tube. Quality is ordinary but you'll get the idea.

The movie "Almost Famous", the Cameron Crowe movie (he also did Fast Times at Ridgemont High with Sean Penn wrecking a Camaro). He contacted our Camaro Club to load the Movie with Camaros. I  got paid $185 to drive my sons 68 behind Francis Mcdomonds car all night for the concert scene. A club members blue 69 is seen driving the sister away.

There is a gold Camaro that gets wrecked in "Remember the Titans". I think it was a '67. I came across a '69 Z/28 for sale on line a few years ago that claimed to be the one that Chris Walken drove in "At Close Range". It was Dusk Blue though with a long story about how it was painted silver for the movie and then put back to blue. Did not ring true to me. I always remember that movie because I had a twin to that Z/28 when I was in high school!

That story is false.  I know the person that owns it and has owned it since 1970 or 71..  The car is actually Glacier Blue and not silver.   ;)  It is an early build Z.

In "remember the titans" from disney. The white team captain drove and was near killed in a 67 coupe. I think it was bronze, and his girlfriend took off earlier in the film in a 67 vert. same color I think. No pics, but it's on the tube now and then.

There's also a front on picture of it in the opening credits.
Gerry Bertier to his buddy in the hospital scene in the movie: "Well, you think I look banged up, you should see my Camaro!"
A former co-worker was a senior when the Titans won that championship.  She says the Camaro belonged to Gerry's mother.
