Wow....505 HP. I assume that is at the rear wheels too.
I'm still trying to get use to the fact that the new Z-28 has a big block instead of a small block.

The more renderings I see of the 2016 Camaro the better the 2014 looks. I wish the 2013 and prior could have shed the weight and had a Z/28 version. I like the front and rear better than the current Camaro. IMO

I went to the Mecum Auction on Sat., lot of nice cars.  Saw the HURST Hemi Under Glass collection, got Bob Riggle's autograph, and Linda Vaughn's autograph.  Had a good time.

Take back my earlier opinion ! Drinking my morning coffee watching this rose the hair on my arms , awesome.

Big cube small blocks have been around for  years ,and very popular in the gasser mix.

The Supers(circle track) who traditionally run alky injected big blocks began making the switch--more in New York ,slower to catch on in Ohio but guys are winning with them--not without protests. Not my crowd but a friend of mine is  into it--- you want a bullet proof motor built, see whose pulling hard out of the corners with these guys and who they use.

Back to the Z ,wonderful to see not just a stickered up grocery getter coming off the line but the real deal ,also considering the availability of the COPO for Super Stock, looks like GM's heavy into R&D--- and competition always leads to a better product for the consumer.

I want mine in  Cortez Silver !

Price point is expected to be GREATER than the current ZL1 model, which starts around $53k I think.

Thankfully, the Blue Ray Metallic/Concord Metallic looks very close to Dusk Blue :)

So now what makes a small block different than a big block these days? I thought it used to be dictated by CID size (with the 400 CID small block aside).

Those new Camaros are hot...I'd go for a new Z28. Wish I could afford the price tag. What's the deal with the black rims anyway?  Is black the new chrome? Does GM offer anything else other than black rims? Even my son just painted the nice chrome wheels that came on his trailBalzer black, his is white. Kind of looks ghetto. Probably a new generation think I suppose.

And even accounting for inflation, that's twice in today's dollars what a Z cost in 68....  :o

Mike

It's design, not CID.  Ford has had motor designs with virtually the same CID, but one was a small block and the other a big block.
