Radiator Support Assembly
« on: August 31, 2006, 10:47:48 AM »
Does anyone know of a difference in radiator support designs for SS and non SS cars for 1968?  Some people have said that the dimension of the opening is different and I have also heard that there is no difference.  The AIM doesn't specify, or at least I have not found it yet if it does.

Also, are all big block cars SS cars?

Thanks

Mark

One size fits all, slight evolutionary differences 67-69.

I agree with William: At least on the early 68 there was one radiator support assembly (P&A 1.270), PN 3914733.  I could not find anything particular in the 68 AIM either.

Whoops, sorry Mark! Missed your other question.
Take a look at this:
http://www.camaros.org/engine.shtml#CamaroEngines
If you don't count COPO (the 427s, like the COPO 9560 =BB SS in sheep's clothing), all the big blocks were ordered as SS options.

Phillip:

You are so right on the SS thing and I feel silly for not having verified that on the site before asking the question.  Thanks for setting me straight.

BTW where in North Carolina are you from?  I moved up to Central New York from Asheboro, NC and used to have a lake house on Lake Norman too.

How about that!  I was born a Blue Comet (Asheboro), but haven't lived there in years.  I'm in the Winston area now.  Have you ever been involved with any of the car shows they have in Asheboro?  There was a big AACA show there last year.

Phillip:

At the risk of continuing a thread drift, no I wasn't invloved with classic cars until just recently.  I did marry a woman once from Winston.  Smokin' hot looking and crazy as a loon  :o  I've got the papers to prove it too lol.   I hope to get back down for a visit soon as it has been too long since I got South of The Line.  Maybe I can work it out for the show in Charlotte.

Feel free to contact me on my regular email.
