67 DG rallys
« on: August 16, 2014, 07:24:35 AM »
I have a set of 67 DG rally's. They have no date code that I can find. I heard these were good for that reason.
( No date code).
They are 14 x 6
Any info on them would be helpful.
Thanks.

Are you sure they're 14x6?  I've seen "DG" rallys that are 15" x 6", interchangeable with "DC" rallys.

Every DG I've seen was a 14x6. I have one in the shop right now. Big vent holes. 1967 disc brake rally. I wonder if some got stamped incorrectly..Joe

Tomrchaz. Welcome to the site... You will enjoy the time you spend here. And the knowledge gained will be plentiful.
How about some nice clear close-up pictures of a rim showing letters and numbers inside the rim also... Danny

I believe JohnZ is thinking of "DF" rally wheels.

There is no date code by the valve stem hole as the later wheels have.  There is a stamp on the "inside" wall of the wheel that cannot be seen once the tire is mounted, which I believe indicates the month and year, but I can't recall the exact format.  May be a letter for the month, thought I had a picture but didn't find one.

Sorry I know the picture is bad. It says 14 x 6 JJ and by the valve stem on the outside it's stamped DG.

I think that the 67 Z28 and the SS350 are the only models that those wheels were available on as an option with 70 series sport ovals......................

Sometimes the date code stamps are very light.  Have you tried removing the paint in that area?

I believe DG wheels are 14 x 6.  Z28 wheels are 15 x 6.

Go here.  Scroll down to the application table.

Here's a few shots of inside the rim on 67 DG wheels.  You can see the year and a digit for what I assume is the month.  The stamp is usually near a ridge and hard to see or partial.  I've not seen any with 66 for the year, so maybe the earlier ones didn't have a date code?  It seems the earlier wheels have the DG stamp to the left of the valve stem hole as you look from the center of the wheel out to the edge.  The ones I found with date stamps had the DG to the right of the hole.

April 1967 stamp?

February 1967 stamp?

Indeterminate month 1967 stamp
