68 SS RS Wheel well moldings
« on: July 15, 2013, 11:56:16 AM »
Is there a difference between 1968....  / Standard / RS / SS /  wheel well moldings?

Classic industries has a set that states RS only.
1-What are the differences?
2-Which type would a SS/RS have? Am I right to assume RS?

Link to Classic Industries RS set - http://www.classicindustries.com/camaro/parts/*R5121.html  (looks like 69 in the pic though)

Cheers,
Ue.

Yes, on the 68 RS the wheel opening moldings are shorter and different part #'s than the 67 RS/SS and 68 SS models. They can be cut and I know a template exists but I have never tried it myself. The 68 RS moldings come up for sale on a fairly regular basis and if you are'nt in a hurry you might wait and see if you can pick up a set and sell the others. If no one else comes through with the template I have one somewhere and will dig it out for you. I'd just hate to see you chop up an expensive set of moldings and not be happy with the results.

For 68, the front moldings differed between Z21 Style Trim Group & RS.  The rear moldings were the same for both.
Here is additional info on the 68 moldings:

OK, going to kick this thread off again...

Would a 68 RS Camaro (build Nov 67) front wheel arch mouldings stop at the rocker molding or continue down to the bottom of the wheel arch of the rear of the front guard?

This thread states there was a "discontinued" style. - http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=11133.0

If so, does anyone have a detailed picture or template for me to cut my classic Industrie repos?

If not, does anyone have a picture of the rocker moulding meeting up with the wheel arch mould?
A (poor) example is below.

Cheers, Ue.

Thanks Rick. I love how helpful and informative this site and everyone who uses it is.

Here's the link for future readers... http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=9483.msg69255#msg69255

Now, can anyone confirm that a 11B 68 RS would have the trimmed front wheel well molds?
Cheers,
Ue.
