In my 69 Z my clutch pedal engages disengages smoothly while the car is cool. After the car is hot the pedal gets "sticky" when the pedal gets near the floor. This does not effect shifting but is very annoying. The TOB is not squealing or sound like anything is galled.

Any ideas of the problem?

You might want to try to grease the z-bar (fitting is in the middle of the bar).  I know my 69 used to do the same thing as yours.  This seemed to help with mine.  Just a thought.

 I had the same problem. In my case the clutch fork bearing retainer was not riveted on the fork correctly. It was not letting the bearing center itself over the tranny output shaft, adding a lot of side pressure. As I worked the clutch during driving the bearing would really heat up. When I tore it down to find the problem the bearing was ready to fall apart from wear.
Not sure of the brand of fork but it was after market so there are more out there!

That is a good lead on the problem. Sounds like that could be it. The clutch fork I am guessing I'd the one that the car came with from GM but not positive.

If the I.D. of the throwout bearing wasn't properly lubricated when it was installed, it can "skip" or drag on the O.D. of the front bearing retainer; just another possibility.

I wish I could remember if we lubed the TOB.

I guess the TOB needs to come out for inspection, right?

John after thinking more about your suggestion.  Is this a situation that makes the pedal feel like it is sticking on something when the pedal is close to the floor. Is this a possible result of lack of grease? If so what damage can result?

My experience would point to a faulty pressure plate, IMO.

Could be a number of things, including lube worn off the clutch fork pivot ball stud and its mating recess in the fork.

 Maybe a worn input shaft bearing retainer cover?
I've had one with a worn groove in it causing more of a hanging returning clutch along with a not so smooth peddle return.
The groove wasn't that deep neither to cause the problem.

Juts a thought.
