69 SS 350 300 HP car
« on: June 24, 2013, 08:33:45 PM »
OK I may take the plunge and buy an SS 350 car. Its a nice unmolested original car but I don't know much about them and Jerry's book only covers, well you all know.
Are the 350 hydraulic lifter cars? compression ratio? things like that I.
Any input general or specific or things to watch for would be appreciated.
I wish it was another Z but oh well.
Thanks

The '69 SS350 (option Z27) did have hydraulic lifters, Quadrajet carb, 10.25 compression, dual exhaust. Standard transmission was HD Muncie 3 speed. Power front disc brakes and 12 bolt rear were standard. I think some SS's were found to have 10 bolt rears with a Powerglide option. A special hood with louvres was also standard unless it was a Pacecar replica.

Would the Z27 option be on the build sheet or order form or window sticker? This car has dual exhaust, PDB 4 speed. I have a photo of the POP would that help determine that option?
Thanks so much

Yes, it should be on the POP and the Window Sticker. Post some pictures of the docs you have.

Michael
HA would indicate a 350 300HP MT engine. Also you should have two fuel lines. One fuel and the other is a return line. As a side note my POP has T0123HA for the engine. It also has a BM (3.31 open) coded rear axle and came with a Carter Qjet. It originally was equipped with the MC1 Muncie 3sp.
