At the carburetor end, the Z/28 throttle rod fits in the SMALL hole directly below the LARGE hole in the throttle lever; the LARGE hole that takes a black rubber bushing and white nylon sleeve on the base V-8 isn't used on Z/28, L-34, L-35, and L-78. There should be no "play" at all in that attachment, which only takes an "E"-clip.
JohnZ: Thanks for the reply. My excessive play is in the lengthwise (In and out) rather than the diameter of the hole. It seems that the slot of
the rod(that holds the "E" clip should have been put closer to the throttle arm of the carb.IMHO Larry
