Hello;
I am having an L35 396" motor built for 1967 restoration project (original 4N car).
I'm wanting to keep it as stock as possible, however engine builder is recommending that with stock L35 cam, we use lower compression pistons (around 9.5:1) instead of the stock 10.25:1; to reduce pinging and improve driveability. Car will be driven sparingly on the street, mainly from home to shows & back, would like to use pump gas if possible.
Questions--
1) Is there anyone out there with a STOCK L35 (1967) engine (cam & pistons) and can it be driven with pump gas?? Or do you have to do something special for fuel like octane boosters or racing gas??
2) Anyone with a rebuilt '67 L35-- If you've rebuilt to a non-stock configuration, any comments on results & driveability with the cams and/or pistons you used?
THANKS!!!!!
